Being in the "complex made simple business" myself, the recent BusinessWeek article about the Flip camcorder - a camera and software, all in, for under 200 bucks - caught my eye.
In case you haven't seen it yet, here's a picture of this nifty device.
It looks a lot like my cell phone. And from the photo, a whole lot less complicated to use.
What I found particularly refreshing was what Pure Digital Technologies CEO Jonathan Kaplan had to say.
"O.K., so we don't have the highest quality components or expensive paints... Hey, it's a camera and software bought together for less than $200... We hear the challenges, but we don't want the software to become more complex. We want to have software that helps users feel smarter."
Now there's a philosophy today's consumer - and not just "Walmart Moms" - can relate to.
